Updated Saturday, 6:15pm PST, November 9, 2019 -

Sunday a strong low pressure system is exiting the area after dropping some upper mountain snowfall, with cold air dropping in from the north this morning, dropping snow levels some, for mountain snow at/ above 4,000 feet (1,200m), then snow levels drop to near 3,500ft/ 1,000m or slightly below, as the last flakes fall later morning/ early afternoon. Clearing is expected late day through overnight before we cloud up again on Monday with the approach of the next low pressure system.

On Monday (Nov 11th) expect partly to mostly sunny skies early, under a ridge of high pressure that will be weakening (storm coming). Clouds will increase, becoming cloudy later morning and afternoon. Isolated showers develop overnight, with snow levels near 4,000 rising to 5,000 feet (1.200 to 1,500m) as we move into Tuesday morning.

This coming Tuesday into Wednesday (Nov 12 mainly, into the morning of the 13th) it looks like the first storm in a series (several storms about a day to 1.5 days apart) will take aim at BC, and this first one looks to be not as cold as we would like for lower elevation snowfall, so expect more snow, this time moderate to heavy, and between 6 and 12 inches for the storm (15 to 30cm) most likely, and over a foot (over 30cm) is possible for upper mountain areas above 6,000 feet. Snow clears out Wednesday morning with lingering clouds and some sun breaks on Wednesday as the low pressure system exits and is replaced with a brief ridge of high pressure. Wednesday should be a beautiful day.

Next Thursday evening through Friday evening (Nov 14-15th) the second storm will move in across the Northwest US and southwest Canada, with energy and moisture looking like it may be diverted a bit southward ("south of the border") leaving Revelstoke and Kingfisher with lighter snow potential and snow levels near 5,000 feet (1,500m) again. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

LONGER RANGE OUTLOOK: By around the 17th through the 19th of November expect stronger and colder Pacific storms to start moving into the western US and Canada (the eastern US and Canada needed a bit more time to accumulate Snow... its only fair), as large scale low pressure starts affecting the entire western US and southwest Canada including Revelstoke and Kingfisher, with mountain snow, cold enough air temperatures for top to bottom snowfall at the resort elevations as we approach the 25th, and moderate to heavy early season accumulations to set us up for the American Thanksgiving holiday!
Expect a colder and more snowy winter this season. We are in a neutral ENSO pattern (no El Nino or La Nina), leaning to La Nina this winter 2019-2020 I would say. This should produce favorable weather patterns to deliver regular snowfalls to British Columbia for Revelstoke and Kingfisher Heli! Meteorologist/ Chris Manly
